Besides Naomi Wolf, feminist Phyllis Chesler also lost her mind after 9-11— I think she writes islamophobic columns for PJM now.

chesler had written a great book in the 70’s (I think) called Women and Madness— it’s just so disappointing and upsetting to see a thinker you’d once liked go off the rails. Probably a lot of right wing people here feel the same about Charles Krauthammer. (altho, i always thought he was a loon).

Sadly, some people don’t realize when they no longer have anything useful to contribute to public discussion and they should just keep quiet. Nonsense like this will only detract from her previous positive contributions and allow critics to dismiss her entire body of work.

Absolutely— the haters were always ready to dismiss all her work, and this will be used to do that— though honestly, if all I knew of her was her recent work, I probably wouldn’t bother to read the earlier stuff.
